About the Thermidorian

The Thermidorian is named after the Thermodorian Reaction of 27 July 1794 which was a coup d’état within the French Revolution. It was launched against the leaders of the Jacobin Club, notably Maximillien Robespierre and the Committee for Public Safety, who unleashed the Great Terror on France. The reactionaries were striving to end leftist totalitarianism and prevent a return to an autocratic monarchy by establishing a conservative republic with decentralized political power, removing stifling economic controls, promoting freedom of religion, and restoring stability to France. In a similar vein, we hope to be part of the conversation on how to promote freedom, justice, opportunity, and prosperity for all Australians.
